A young man and a young woman meet in an overbooked hostel somewhere in Berlin, where they have to share a tiny room. It turns out that they are not only from the same country, but also from the same small town. The question of what brought them here holds unexpected answers.

Jury statement:
A tiny room somewhere in rainy Berlin. A chance encounter between two young people who speak Russian. SHE has been living in Berlin for 13 years. HE has just arrived in Berlin. It soon turns out that both come from the Russian town Kolomna. Armenian cognac is served as a greeting. And the harmless game of getting to know each other takes its course - until the first kiss.
With a surprising twist a clever change of perspective takes place and HOSTEL turns out to be a sophisticated game in the game. Director Daniel Popat trusts Alexandra Pyatkovas and Viktor Weinberg's joy of playing, which give the chamber play a special intensity through their acting improvisation. Straightforward, pure and direct! The charm of this snapshot is suddenly transmitted to the audience to involve them in the deceptive play. HOSTEL is an outstanding cinematic miniature about passion and seduction, truth and deception - refreshingly spontaneous, charming and authentic!
